On the eve of January 7th 2017, a group of songwriters from Barrie, ON gathered at a local studio.
They brought with them their songs, creativity and time. Nine of them would contribute a song they had written to this 24-Hour-Process.
"Soundtracks II- 24 Hour Renditions" was born.

In less than a day, these Artists would assemble into bands who would draw two songs from a hat; and proceed to learn, rehearse and perform their given songs in front of their peers and community- and in front of the songwriter who had contributed their piece.

What followed was a truly special sold-out evening at The Mady Centre for The Performing Arts in conjunction with Talk Is Free Theatre. Here, you can listen to each rendition as performed by the Soundtracks cast. The original performance was held on January 8th 2017.

Soundtracks is the brainchild of Barrie, ON native Carleigh Aikins, whose career as a vocalist spans over 25 years from her humble beginnings in her hometown's celebrated bands Fox Jaws as well as The Marquee Rose. Since then she has performed everywhere from The Ryman Auditorium, to Royal Albert Hall, Red Rocks to Massey Hall, and countless stages in between. She is a lead vocalist with Colorado's Paper Bird, a featured performer with Dwayne Gretzky, toured for years with Bahamas and has worked with Artists such as Jack Johnson, Macy Grey, John Oates, The Head and the Heart, Nathaniel Rateliff, Royal Wood, Hannah Georgas and The Weather Station to name a very few.
(Visit www.carleighaikins.com to learn more about this Artist).

In 2016, Aikins paired up with TIFT- after several years as a member of the Company in all capacities from Actress to Designer to Director of Education. Together they facilitated a collaborative program which Aikins entitled "Soundtracks- A Retrospective Guide To Travel".

Aikins assembled a group of her talented hometown contemporaries to assist her in sharing her own stories from the road, and songs by Artists she had met along the way as performed by the Barrie Artists she had grown up with. The cast included members of Bahamas, Zeus, The Marquee Rose, Paint Movement, Yukon Blonde, Indian Handcrafts, Stonetrotter, House Art Collective, The Socials, Sophie and Evangeline Gentle, The Morals, Fox Jaws, Dave Thomson and Katherine Salnek with Production Assistance by Nichi Aikins. The group presented the program for two sold-out nights at the Mady.
In 2017, with a revised format, many of the same Artists returned to create Soundtracks II- with Aikins and Brett Caswell as hosts.

The entire Soundtracks crew thanks you for donating to the SickKids Foundation- as many of the cast members have directly benefited from the SickKids hospital's exceptional facilities, dedicated Doctors and successful treatments. We hope that you will share this music with others and help to contribute to this cause.
